Senator Chuck Grassley released the following comment after the Senate passed the Secure Fence bill. The legislation will now go to the President to be signed into law.
“This is the first step in securing our border and turning off the spigot. It will accomplish a great deal in keeping illegal aliens out of this country who cross the border willy-nilly. But, this is only one of many actions we need to take in order to put integrity back in our immigration system. I would still like to see employee verification and employer sanctions as well as a temporary worker program where people come to this country legally from their home country.”
