Grassley: Iowa City Student Selected by Naval Academy

 

 

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that Matthew Lee of Iowa City has been selected for admission to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, for the 2013-2014 school year.  

Lee will graduate in May from City High School.  He is the son of Elizabeth and Joel Lee of Iowa City.  In high school, Matthew Lee was a member of the National Honor Society.  He was in the Ambassadors Club, the Student Senate, and Best Buddies.  Lee participated in football, wrestling, and track and field, and he was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  Lee also plays the cello in the City High Symphony Orchestra.

Lee was among the Iowans Grassley nominated this year for appointments to the U.S. service academies.  Information about seeking nominations is posted at /students/academy-nominations.

For more than 200 years, these academies have educated and trained individuals to lead and command the U.S. armed forces.
