Grassley: Iowa City Student Selected by Naval Academy

 

 

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that Jackson Peplow of Iowa City has been selected for admission to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, for the 2013-2014 school year.  

Peplow is the son of Nanci Kohl and Ken Peplow of Iowa City.  Jackson Peplow will graduate in May from West High School, where he is a member of the National Honor Society.  He also serves in the Student Senate.  Peplow participates in Math Club, football and rugby, and he plays the violin in the Symphony Orchestra.

Matthew Lee of City High School in Iowa City also has been selected by the Naval Academy for fall admission.

Both Peplow and Lee were among the Iowans Grassley nominated this year for appointments to the U.S. service academies.  Information about seeking nominations is posted at /students/academy-nominations.

For more than 200 years, these academies have educated and trained individuals to lead and command the U.S. armed forces.
