Grassley: More Than $1.1 Million to Iowa from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services


  

            WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded four grants totaling $1,134,541 to Iowa.

 

The funds have been awarded as described below.

 

v University of Iowa in Iowa City will receive $328,125 from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke to help pay for a clinical research project related to neurological disorders titled, “Pathogenesis of Neurodegenerative Diseases Caused by Mutations in Senataxin.”

v Children’s Square USA - Christian Home Association in Council Bluffs will receive $80,000 from the Administration for Children and Families to help pay for the Basic Center Program.

v Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship in Des Moines will receive $250,000 from the Food and Drug Administration to help pay for a research demonstration titled, “Iowa Ruminant Feed Ban Surveillance Project.”

v University of Iowa in Iowa City will receive $476,416 from the National Institute on Drug Abuse to help pay for a drug abuse and addiction research project titled, “Role of Medullary Substance P in Acute and Persistent Nociception.”
