Grassley: More Than $22.5 Million to Iowa from USDA


 

WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development has awarded grants and loans totaling $22,536,520 to Iowa through the Water and Environmental program.
 
“These funds will help rural Iowa have the safe and reliable water and sewer services that are needed,” Grassley said. “It’s nice to see this money getting out to communities so quickly after the farm bill was passed.”
 
The Water and Environmental Program provides loans and grants for drinking water, sanitary sewer, solid waste and storm drainage facilities in rural areas and cities and towns of 10,000 or less.
 
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development has awarded funds to facilitate various projects, as described below.
 
·       Iowa Lakes Regional Water in Spencer will receive a $4,201,000 loan and a $3,400,134 grant.
 
·       Iowa Regional Utilities Association in Newton will receive a $1,000,000 loan, a $3,300,000 loan and a $1,200,000 grant.
 
·       Regional Water in Avoca will receive a $3,354,000 loan and a $1,017,365 grant.
 
·       Southern Iowa Rural Water Association in Creston will receive a $3,664,021 loan.
 
·       Southern Sioux County Rural Water System in Ireton will receive a $1,400,000 loan.
