WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded three grants totaling $1,936,701 to Iowa.
The funds have been awarded as described below.
v Iowa State University in Ames will receive $687,588 from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute to help pay for a heart and vascular diseases research project titled, “A Measurement Error Approach to Estimating Usual Daily Physical Activity Distribution.”
v Newlink Genetics Corporation in Ames will receive $287,565 from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to help pay for an allergy, immunology and transplantation research project titled, “Improved Influenza A Virus Vaccines Using Alpha-Gal Epitope Modification.”
v University of Iowa in Iowa City will receive $961,548 from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases to help pay for a kidney diseases, urology and hematology research project titled, “Multi-Disciplinary Approach to the Study of Chronic Pelvic Pain.”
