WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have awarded a $9,237,500 grant to the Iowa Department of Human Services.
The Iowa Department of Human Services will use the grant funds to help pay for a project titled “Money Follows the Person Demo: Partnership for Community Integration.”
“I’m glad to see Money Follows the Person continuing to receive the money it needs to be effective,” said Grassley, who was instrumental in getting Money Follows the Person enacted into law.
Enacted by the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, the Money Follows the Person Demonstration is part of a comprehensive, coordinated strategy to give assistance to states making widespread changes to their long-term care support systems. This initiative assists states in efforts to reduce reliance on institutional care, while developing community-based long-term care opportunities which enable the elderly and people with disabilities to fully participate in their communities.
