“National Police Week concludes today with the 28th Annual National Peace Officers Memorial Service.  This service honors the dedicated men and women of our nation’s law enforcement agencies who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.  These brave officers have put their duty first in order to make our communities safer.  The memorial service held on the Capitol grounds offers an opportunity for all of us to pay our respect to fallen officers and the families, communities, and law enforcement agencies that have been forever changed because of their sacrifice.  We all owe these brave men, women, families, friends and fellow officers, our utmost appreciation, gratitude, and condolences as we honor them on this solemn day.”
