Here is information about Senator Grassley’s schedule this week.  The Senate is in session.


Senator Grassley is scheduled to meet with Iowans in Washington from The Enough Project, Bread for the World, the National Milk Producers Federation, UnityPoint Health, Ag Processing, Inc., the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the National Organic Coalition, and AARP Iowa.


Senator Grassley will meet with Iowa families visiting Washington from Ankeny, Casey, Clarinda, Dubuque, Iowa City, Johnston, Maquoketa, Mt. Vernon, Pleasant Hill, Urbandale, and West Des Moines.


Senator Grassley will be a guest on public affairs programs hosted by Captain Steve and Tommy Lang on KCJJ Radio in Iowa City and Mike Adams on AgriTalk, which airs on 13 stations in Iowa.


This week, the Senate will begin consideration of a comprehensive immigration reform bill.  The bill passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee on May 21 after five days of deliberation.  Senator Grassley’s closing remarks at the end of the Judiciary Committee’s consideration of the bill can be found here.  Senator Grassley is Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee and will help lead the debate for Republicans on the Senate floor.


On Tuesday, June 11, at 9:30 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the nominations of B. Todd Jones to be the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Stuart F. Delery to be the Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division.


On Tuesday, June 11, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Senate Finance Committee hearing titled, “Sex Trafficking and Exploitation in America:  Child Welfare’s Role in Prevention and Intervention.”


On Tuesday, June 11, at 5 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley may attend a meeting with other members of the Senate Finance Committee to discuss the Committee’s agenda and the IRS targeting groups based on ideology.


On Wednesday, June 12, at 8:30 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Congressional and Judicial Inter-branch Breakfast Reception hosted by the Interbranch Relations Subcommittee of the Committee on the Judicial Branch, which is part of the Judicial Conference of the United States.


On Wednesday, June 12, at 10:30 a.m. (ET), there will be a Senate Budget Committee hearing titled, “The President’s FY14 Defense Budget Request.”


On Wednesday, June 12, at 11:30 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will meet with a group of 45 students from across Iowa participating in a week-long 4-H program titled, “Citizenship Washington Focus.”


On Wednesday, June 12, at 2 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will meet with a group of 130 student National History Day winners from across Iowa.


On Thursday, June 13, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Senate Judiciary Committee executive business meeting.  The Committee may consider the nominations of Derek Anthony West to be Associate Attorney General, Valerie E. Caproni to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York, and Vernon S. Broderick to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York.  The Committee also may consider bills S.394, the Metal Theft Prevention Act of 2013, and S.162, the Justice & Mental Health Collaboration Act.


On Thursday, June 13, at 3 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will meet with Adam Cline of Bettendorf.  Adam is receiving a college scholarship from the National Federation of Independent Business’ Young Entrepreneur Foundation.
