Grassley: Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission Wins Economic Development Administration’s Planning Performance Award

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration, has awarded $2,550 to Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission in Burlington for winning the Planning Performance Award.

Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission won because of its exceptional collaboration with federal, state, and local entities throughout the development and implementation of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy which helps the region transition from an economy based on durable goods manufacturing to an economy based on technology and advanced manufacturing. This strategy allows the region to respond to the changing global marketplace and capitalize on the region’s emerging strengths in technology and advanced manufacturing.

“I would like to congratulate the Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission for winning this award,” Grassley said. “It’s nice to see their efforts recognized and I hope they continue to promote strong collaboration between the different levels of government.”
