Grassley Sponsors "West Point Academy Night"


Sen. Chuck Grassley today announced he will sponsor "West PointAcademy Night" to provide military academy information for Iowa high school studentsand their parents on Sunday, October 17, at 7:00 p.m., at the Collins Plaza Hotel, in CedarRapids.

Grassley encourages all interested high school students to attend the program, which isdesigned to inform students how to seek a nomination and appointment to West Point MilitaryAcademy, in West Point, New York. Sen. Grassley's regional director from his Cedar Rapidsoffice, Mary Day, will attend the information session on his behalf.

"Military academies offer a wonderful option for outstanding students who are making adecision about their future and higher education needs," said Grassley. "I recommend thatinterested high school students and their parents attend West Point Night. It's a good opportunityto get your questions answered about a military academy."

The Admissions Officer from West Point will present the program and take questionsfrom participants. The Iowa liaison officer for West Point Academy, Lt. Col. Rich Gaard, alsowill attend. For more information, contact Lt. Col. Rich Gaard: 319/382-3643.

Students interested in making an application can do so through Grassley's Washingtonoffice. Students should start the application process during their junior year in high school.
