Here is information about Senator Grassley’s schedule this week. The Senate is in session.
Senator Grassley will meet with Iowans in Washington, D.C., from the National Institute for Excellence in, Bread for the World, the American Medical Group Association, the International Justice Mission, the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association, the Council Bluffs Chamber of Commerce, the Associated Builders and Contractors of Iowa, the National Grain and Feed Association, Iowa Limestone Producers, Upper Iowa University, the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, the University of Iowa College of Law, the American Nurses Association, the YWCA, and the Iowa Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.
Senator Grassley will meet with Iowa families from Bettendorf, West Des Moines, Newton, Mt. Pleasant, Springbrook, Humboldt, and Ankeny.
Senator Grassley will meet with Iowa students from St. Francis of Assisi School in West Des Moines, Iowa 4-H, Iowa FFA, and Washington Middle School in Washington. Grassley will also meet with Laurelin Haas from Iowa State University, who is the 2014 Boren Scholar from Iowa.
Senator Grassley will be a guest on public affairs programs hosted by Greg Haubrich and Rich Cain on WGEM in Quincy, Fred Hoffman on KCPS in Burlington, and Charlie Stone on KSCJ in Sioux City.
On Tuesday, June 10, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will meet with Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, who is nominated to be the director of the Office of Management and Budget. Grassley has scrutinized poor federal oversight of the nation’s housing authorities.
On Wednesday, June 11, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Judiciary Committee hearing on “Oversight of the Department of Homeland Security.” The secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson, will testify before the committee for the first time since being confirmed.
On Wednesday, June 11, at 5 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will meet with the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Marilyn Tavenner, regarding the Sunshine Act, qualified health plans and the anti-kickback statute.
On Thursday, June 12, at 9:30 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in the weekly executive business meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee. The committee may consider the nominations of Andre Birotte, Jr. to be United States District Judge for the Central District of California, Geoffrey W. Crawford to be United States District Judge for the District of Vermont, John W. deGravelles to be United States District Judge for the Middle District of Louisiana, Randolph D. Moss to be United States District Judge for the District of Columbia, Robin L. Rosenberg to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of Florida, Ronnie L. White to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri, Nancy B. Firestone to be a Judge of the United States Court of Federal Claims, Lydia Kay Griggsby, to be a Judge of the United States Court of Federal Claims, and Thomas L. Halkowski to be a Judge of the United States Court of Federal Claims. The committee may also consider S. 1799, the Victims of Child Abuse Act Reauthorization Act of 2013, sponsored by Senators Chris Coons, Roy Blunt, Patrick Leahy, Orrin Hatch, Mazie Hirono, Jeff Sessions, and John Cornyn.
On Thursday, June 12, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in an Agriculture Committee hearing on “A National Priority: The Importance of Child Nutrition Programs to our Nation’s Health, Economy and National Security.”
