Here is information about Senator Grassley’s schedule this week.  The Senate is in session.

Senator Grassley will meet with Iowans in Washington, D.C., from the Iowa Citizens’ Climate Lobby, the Iowa Soybean Association, the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, the Iowa Biodiesel Board, Coalition for Access Now, the University of Iowa Department of Rehabilitation and Counselor Education and the State Conservationist for Iowa, Kurt Simon.

Senator Grassley will meet with Iowa families from Council Bluffs, Hull, Urbandale and Waverly.

Senator Grassley was a guest on a public affairs program hosted by Jim Turbes on KWBG radio in Boone.

On Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will preside over a Caucus on International Narcotics Control hearing on “Drug Trafficking Across the Southwest Border and Oversight of U.S. Counterdrug Assistance to Mexico.”  Senator Grassley is the chairman of the Senate Caucus on International Narcotics Control.

On Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Finance Committee hearing on “Physician Owned Distributors: Are They Harmful to Patients and Payers?”

On Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 9 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will speak at the Taxpayers Against Fraud False Claims Act Conference.  Senator Grassley authored the 1986 qui tam amendments to the False Claims Act as well as an update to the law in 2009.  The qui tam amendments have helped return more than $40 billion to the federal treasury since his amendments were signed into law.  These taxpayer dollars otherwise would be lost to fraud.  Senator Grassley will also receive the “Honest Abe Integrity in Government Award.”

On Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will preside over a Judiciary Committee hearing on “National Adoption Month: Stories of Success and Meeting the Challenges of International Adoptions.”  Dr. Rick Wilkerson of Spencer, Iowa, will testify about his family’s experiences with adoption in Haiti and their work to promote adoptions of orphaned children.  The family has nine children; two are adopted from overseas.  In July the Judiciary Committee advanced the Adoptive Families Relief Act, which Senator Grassley sponsored, to provide financial reprieve to families who are unable to bring home children who have been adopted in other countries.  Last year, the Democratic Republic of Congo unexpectedly suspended the exit permits needed to finalize pending adoptions, leaving many children and adoptive families in limbo.  November is National Adoption Month.

On Thursday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will preside over the weekly executive business meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee.  The committee will consider S. 247, the Expatriate Terrorist Act, sponsored by Senators Ted Cruz, Grassley and Roy Blunt and S. 1318, the Nuclear Terrorism Conventions Implementation and Safety of Maritime Navigation Act of 2015, sponsored by Senators Grassley and Sheldon Whitehouse.
