Joint Statement of U.S. Senators Tom Harkin and Chuck Grassley on Midwestern Senators Disaster Meeting

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Tom Harkin and Chuck Grassley of Iowa issued the following statement tonight after convening a meeting of senators from six Midwestern states to discuss Congressional disaster relief efforts.

 

“Tonight’s bipartisan meeting between senators from other weather ravaged states was a great first step toward a unified approach to deliver relief for families and communities across the Midwest. While Iowa has been hardest hit, states across the region have felt the devastating effects of tornadoes, floods and other severe weather.

 

“The senators at tonight’s meeting pledged to work together and move quickly to get resources to affected states. By working together, we can maximize our collective efforts, and help ensure our state gets the resources it so badly needs.

 

“Iowa families have endured a lot in the last few weeks, we are committed to getting them the help they need quickly.”
