WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded three competitive grants totaling $1,151,011 to the University of Iowa.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will distribute the money as shown below.
• $203,134 from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute for blood disease and resources research.
• $597,613 from the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Division of Grants Management Operations for early HIV intervention services
• $350,264 from the National Institute on Aging for aging research.
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
