More Than $1.2 Million to North Iowa Community Action Organization for Head Start

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a $1,201,753 competitive grant to the North Iowa Community Action Organization in Mason City.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, North Iowa Community Action Organization will use the money to help pay for Head Start projects.

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
