More Than $15,000 to Mount Ayr

WASHINGTON- Chuck Grassley said today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Office of Rural Development has awarded $15,400 to Mount Ayr through the Community Facility Grant Program.

These funds will be used to purchase a police vehicle and related equipment.

“It’s important that Iowa’s law enforcement personnel have the equipment necessary to perform their duties,” Grassley said.  “This funding will help the police protect the people of Mount Ayr.”

According to the USDA, Community Facility Grant funds may be used to construct, enlarge, or improve community facilities for health care, public safety, and community services.

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
