WASHINGTON – Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration has awarded seven grants totaling $2,351,908 to Iowa airports.
“This funding is to increase the safety and efficiency of these airports, as well as help provide important economic development opportunities in these communities,” Grassley said.
The distribution information below is organized alphabetically by town:
• Boone Municipal Airport will receive $500,329 for apron rehabilitation
• Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids will receive $625,000 for an airport geographic information system study
• Centerville Municipal Airport will receive $33,250 for an environmental assessment
• Clarion Municipal Airport will receive $60,800 for an environmental assessment
• Dubuque Regional Airport will receive $525,000 for an airport geographic information system study
• Keokuk Municipal Airport will receive $545,779 for runway rehabilitation
• Lamoni Municipal Airport will receive $61,750 for an environmental assessment
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
