More Than $3 Million to Iowa


WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded five grants totaling $3,425,234 to Iowa.

 

The Department of Health and Human Services will distribute the money as shown below.

 

• Iowa State University in Ames will receive $643,500 for health care and other facilities, from the Division of Grants Operations Management

• Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge will receive $687,060 for health care and other facilities, from the Division of Grants Operations Management

• The University of Iowa in Iowa City will receive $1,000,000 for enhancement of community-based cancer control, from the National Cancer Institute

• The University of Iowa in Iowa City will receive $990,000 for health care and other facilities, from the Division of Grants Operations Management

• The University of Iowa in Iowa City will receive $104,674 for research on molecular mechanism of renal deciliation and cystogenesis, from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases

 

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity administering the funds.
