More Than $3 Million to Iowa

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded five grants totaling $3,659,763 to the Iowa Department of Transportation for Iowa railroads and highways.

“This funding is intended to increase the safety and efficiency of these railroads and highways, as well as help provide important economic development opportunities in the surrounding communities,” Grassley said.

The funds will be distributed by the Iowa Department of Transportation as shown below.

• The Burlington Junction Railway in Des Moines County will receive $44,771 from the Federal Railroad Administration for flood damage restoration

• Interstate 29/Interstate 80 will receive $650,000 from the Federal Highway Administration for 1.5 miles of grade and pave improvements from Nebraska Avenue to 24th St. in Council Bluffs

• The Iowa Interstate Railroad in Adair, Cass, Dallas, Iowa, Jasper, Muscatine, Polk, Pottawattamie and Poweshiek counties will receive $566,400 from the Federal Railroad Administration for flood damage restoration
