More than $4 Million to Mercy Medical in Cedar Rapids for Disaster Recovery

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids received a $4,057,300 grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration. The funds will help construct new steam production facilities after the former facility was destroyed in the 2008 floods.

“The people and the city of Cedar Rapids are making great strides in rebuilding their community,” Grassley said. “These funds will help ensure that Mercy is able to provide quality health care to the citizens of Cedar Rapids for years to come.”

The Economic Development Administration serves as a venture capital resource to meet the economic development needs of distressed communities throughout the United States through the promotion of innovation and competitiveness and preparing regions for growth and success in the global economy.
