More Than $400,000 to Iowa State University

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that Iowa State University has received two grants totaling $445,302 from the National Science Foundation.

According to the National Science Foundation, the university will use $245,303 to fund the project entitled, “Iowa Community College Information Assurance and Computer Security Training,” and $199,999 to fund the project entitled, “Dissemination of ThinkSpace: an online delivery tool of authentic, complex problems to increase students' problem-solving skills.”

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity administering the funds.
