WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Rural Energy for America Program has awarded loans and grants to 156 Iowans and businesses totaling $6,608,761 for projects across Iowa.
The Rural Energy for America Program assists farmers, ranchers, and rural small businesses in developing renewable energy systems and in making energy-efficiency improvements to their operations.
"By using renewable energy and maximizing our energy efficiency we are decreasing our dependence on foreign oil," Grassley said. "Many Iowans are taking advantage of this program and helping our state and our nation move in the right direction."
