More Than $84 Million to Iowa for Disaster Preparation

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded an $84,126,989 grant to Iowa through the Disaster Recovery Enhancement Fund.

Iowa will use the funds to develop long-term strategies that focus on reducing damages from future natural disasters.

“Preparation can reduce loss of life and economic damage from natural disasters,” Grassley said.  “These funds should help Iowa get properly prepared.”

According to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Disaster Recovery Enhancement Fund provides flexible grants to help cities, counties, and states recover from disasters, particularly in low-income areas.
