WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded four competitive grants totaling $1,383,293 to Iowa State University and the University of Iowa.
The funds will be distributed as shown below.
· Iowa State University will receive $567,620 from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to help pay for a research project titled, "Dissecting the Structure and Function of the Pdu Microcompartment in Salmonella."
· The University of Iowa will receive $224,966 from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to help pay for a research project titled, "A role for MicroRNAs in Global Changes in Gene Expression Induced by Leishmania."
· The University of Iowa will receive $284,023 from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences to help pay for a research project titled, "Functional Subdomain Organization of the Recycling Endosome."
· The University of Iowa will receive $306,684 from the National Cancer Institute to help pay for a research project titled, "Regulation of SMAD4 and BMPR1A Expression in Juvenile Polyposis."
