Nearly $2 Million to Iowa State University

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that Iowa State University has received two grants totaling $1,891,280 from the National Science Foundation.

According to the National Science Foundation, the university will use $1,771,280 to fund the project entitled, “Collaborative Research: SI2-SSI: Developments in High Performance Electronic Structure Theory,” and $120,000 to fund the project entitled, “Collaborative Research: Mathematical Aspects of Quantum Information Science.”

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity administering the funds.
