Nearly $400,000 to Iowa State University from the National Science Foundation

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that Iowa State University has received a $399,239 grant from the National Science Foundation.

According to the National Science Foundation, the university will use the money to fund the project entitled, “Wind Energy Science, Engineering and Policy.”  The project is designed to motivate students to participate in wind energy research that will enhance its use as a source of renewable energy.

The National Science Foundation is a federal agency created by Congress in 1950.

Each year, local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity administering the funds.
