Over $1 Million to Iowa Airports


WASHINGTON – Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration has awarded nine grants totaling $1,862,491 to Iowa airports.

 

“This funding is to increase the safety and efficiency of these airports, as well as help provide important economic development opportunities in these communities,” Grassley said.

 

The distribution information below is organized alphabetically by town:

 

• Emmetsburg Municipal Airport will receive $276,450 for taxiway rehabilitation



• Forest City Municipal Airport will receive $72,000 for runway renovation



• Iowa Falls Municipal Airport will receive $127,081 for runway extension



• Knoxville Municipal Airport will receive $280,932 for hangar construction



• Le Mars Municipal Airport will receive $10,000 for land acquisition



• Marshalltown Municipal Airport will receive $449,113 for taxiway rehabilitation



• Oskaloosa Municipal Airport will receive $141,408 for an airport master plan study update



• Sac City Municipal Airport will receive $155,325 for runway lighting rehabilitation and beacon replacement



• Shenandoah Municipal Airport will receive $350,182 for taxiway construction

 

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
