Today the Pentagon announced that a task force created in response to reports of government credit card abuse by defense workers and military personnel has been given 60 days to develop a reform plan. Sen. Chuck Grassley, who has worked to expose credit card abuse by some Department of Defense workers and urged Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to take action, made the following comment on today's development.
"I appreciate the Pentagon's response to the credit card problem. Secretary Rumsfeld is taking this seriously. It's refreshing to have a Defense secretary who's trying to solve a problem rather than make excuses for a problem. I hope the reforms work, I'll watch to see that they do, and I'll help as needed."
