Senator Chuck Grassley is encouraging tornado victims to sign up for any available federal assistance. He said that people may not need help now, but in the upcoming months it's difficult to know what might be needed and what an insurance company will cover. It doesn't cost anything to sign-up.
Grassley toured Parkersburg again on Sunday to talk to residents and see the clean-up efforts.
"People are hurting right now, but as they continue to pick up the pieces of their lives, I hope they take advantage of the programs the federal government has to offer. I saw over the weekend how the resilient residents of
Parkersburg have already begun to rebuild. These programs may be of help as the process continues.
“It doesn't cost anything to sign up and may save some time and anxiety in the future. People may never need the assistance, but it's nice to be covered if it's necessary."
