Service Academy Students Offered Appointments

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa today announced the appointment of 21 high school students whom he nominated to the United States service academies earlier this year.
“Students work very hard to earn this kind of opportunity,” Grassley said. “Admission to the service academies is highly competitive and a great achievement. I wish them all the best and thank them for their commitment to serve our nation.”
The service academies are able to make offers of appointment right up until their specific report date for the 2016-2017 school year later this summer.

The following high school students have been offered an offer of appointment:
U.S. Air Force Academy

Sidney Alsager (Jewell, IA) – South Hamilton High School
Riley Lowe (Swisher, IA) – College Community High School
Kaitlin Greene (Coralville, IA) – Clear Creek Amana High School
Samuel Pisney (Cedar Rapids, IA) – Xavier High School
Thomas Treptau, Jr. (Lansing, IA) – Waukon High School
U.S. Military Academy
Garrett Dunn (State Center, IA) – West Marshall High School
Zachary Gilbert (Cedar Rapids, IA) – GEORGE Washington High School
Alexander Gudenkauf (Coralville, IA) – IOWA CITY West High School

These students were among the 41 Iowans Grassley nominated this year for appointments to the U.S. service academies. Upon receiving an appointment, the student then decides whether to attend the academy.  Information about seeking nominations can be found on Grassley’s website.
