Senator Chuck Grassley made the following comment after the White House spokesperson again wouldn’t answer a question from a reporter in the White House Press Corps about the drone documents the Obama Administration has provided senators who will be voting on the nomination of David Barron for the 1st Circuit Federal Court of Appeals. Earlier today Grassley spoke on the Senate floor about the nomination.
“It seems that the White House is having a tough time answering a simple question: Has it provided any and all Barron drone memos to senators who have been asked to vote on this lifetime appointment? Once again today, the White House’s chief spokesperson carefully dodged that simple question. The inability of the White House to give a straightforward answer speaks volumes. It should cause all of us to pause and question just what the White House may be withholding from those of us who are expected to vote on Professor Barron’s nomination to a lifetime appointment to the federal judiciary.”
