$275,000 to Iowa State University from the National Science Foundation

WASHINGTON - Senator Chuck Grassley today said that Iowa State University has received a $275,000 competitive grant from the National Science Foundation.

Iowa State University will use the money to help pay for a project titled, “Collaborative Research: Security and Software Engineering Research Center (SSERC).” According to the National Science Foundation, this project should help improve the management of the software engineering process, the productivity of software engineers, and the security, quality and timeliness of software engineering products. The lead of the proposed center will be Ball State University with a site location at Iowa State University.

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
