WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Education has released $381,000 to Orchestra Iowa, formerly the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra.
"These funds will help Orchestra Iowa teach young Iowans about classical music through various activities and events," Grassley said.
According to the U.S. Department of Education, Orchestra Iowa will use the funds to help bring the excitement and beauty of classical music to Iowans, especially children and youth by providing in school and after school activities, role modeling and mentoring by accomplished young musicians, presentation of live concerts and high-quality radio and television programming that reflect national music standards. Multimedia materials that can be used at home, in school or with after school programs will reinforce live concerts and school visits.
