$385,083 to University of Iowa from the National Science Foundation

WASHINGTON - Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the University of Iowa has received a $385,083 competitive grant from the National Science Foundation.

The university will use the money to fund the project, titled “GOALI: Defect Formation and Phase Transitions in 2-5 Micron GaInAsSb Semiconductor Quaternary Alloys versus Ga(In)Sb/InAs Short Period Superlattices.”

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
