WASHINGTON - Senator Chuck Grassley today said that Drake University and Iowa State University have received competitive grants totaling $464,029 from the National Science Foundation.
Drake received $55,050 to fund the project entitled, “Collaborative Research: UTMOST: Undergraduate Teaching in Mathematics with Open Software and Textbooks."
Iowa State received $408,979 to fund the project titled, “Collaborative Research: Arctic extreme temperature and precipitation - Detection and projection of their climatic change and physical causes.”
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity administering the funds.
