$475,750 to Iowa Lakes Community College from Department of Energy

WASHINGTON — Senator Chuck Grassley today said that $475,750 from the U.S. Department of Energy was released to Iowa Lakes Community College through the regular appropriations process.

“These funds will help Iowa Lakes Community College teach community residents energy efficient practices,” Grassley said.

According to the Department of Energy, the funds will be used to promote increased commercialization of energy efficient heating, cooling, and lighting systems for community residents by creating a demonstration site and hosting evening seminars on small-scale wind and energy efficiency strategies.  These funds will help enclose a Vestas 3.0 megawatt nacelle as an “indoor” classroom laboratory, establishing a blade repair laboratory and retrofit the classrooms and laboratory facilities with environmentally-friendly and high efficiency technologies.
