WASHINGTON - Senator Chuck Grassley today said that Iowa State University and Indian Hills Community College have received competitive grants totaling $722,781 from the National Science Foundation.
Iowa State will receive $412,000 to fund the project titled, “Collaborative Research: The Membrane Associated Methane Monooxygenase from Methylococcus capsulatus Bath: Metal Centers and Mechanism of Substrate Hydroxylation.”
Indian Hills will receive $310,781 to fund the project titled, “Creating Career Pathways for the Bioprocessing and Biofuels Industry.”
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
