$77,200 to Scott County from Department of Energy

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that the U.S. Department of Energy has awarded a $77,200 Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant to Scott County.

“These funds will help Scott County become more energy efficient,” Grassley said.

According to the Department of Energy, the grant funds are to be used to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy and fossil fuel use in Scott County.

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
