$849,998 to Iowa State University

WASHINGTON - Chuck Grassley today said that Iowa State University has received two competitive grants totaling $849,998 from the National Science Foundation.

The university will use $500,000 to fund the project entitled, “Functional Analysis of Leaf Pattern Formation,” and $349,998 to fund the project entitled, “Multiphase Models for CO2 Cleanup: Heat and Mass Transfer in Fluid-Particle Suspensions through Direct Numerical Simulation and Laser-Based Measurements.”

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
