WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded an $873,318 grant to the University of Iowa.
According to the U.S. Department of Education, the University of Iowa will use the funds to pilot a Sustainability Living-Learning Community in the fall of 2010 in Mayflower residence hall for up to 68 students.
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity administering the funds.
