WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has awarded a $914,942 safety belt performance grant to Iowa. These grants are awarded to jurisdictions that actively enforce a primary seat belt law.
“The statistics bear out the fact that wearing seat belts saves lives,” Grassley said. “I’m pleased that law enforcement agencies across Iowa have been recognized for their efforts to enforce the seat belt law and make Iowa’s roads and highways a safer place.”
