Ames Receives $31,465 from U.S. Department of Justice


            WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs has released a $31,465 grant to Ames through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program. 

 

            Ames will use the money to help purchase equipment to improve and expand the capabilities of investigative officers involved with the Investigation Improvement Project which focuses on cyber crime technology, fingerprinting program, diversity training and field operations.

 

          "These funds will help investigators increase efficiency, reduce crime and increase the safety and security of Ames," Grassley said.

 

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program allows states and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime and improve the criminal justice system.
