Federal Grant Opportunities for Iowa Libraries and Museums

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that the Institute of Museum and Library Services is offering grant opportunities through the Laura Bush 21st  Century Librarian Grant program and the 2010 Museums for America Grant program.

“Libraries and museums are building blocks for communities to learn and grow,” Grassley said. “Organizations interested in applying for competitive grants through these programs should visit the Institute of Museum and Library Services website for more information.”

The Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Grant program helps support projects to develop faculty and library leaders, recruit and educate the next generation of librarians, conduct research on the library profession, and support early career research on any area of library and information science by tenure-track, untenured faculty in graduate schools of library and information science. It also supports projects to attract high school and college students to consider careers in libraries, to build institutional capacity in graduate schools of library and information science, and to assist in the professional development of librarians and library staff.

The Museums for America grant program supports projects and ongoing activities that build museums’ capacity to serve their communities by advancing the institution’s mission and strategic goals.  Projects include research, planning, new programs and activities that support the efforts of museums to upgrade and integrate new technologies.
