WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that $108,078 in funds have been released from the U.S. Department of Education for the Oelwein Community School District through the Fund for the Improvement of Education Earmark Grant Awards Program. The funds were secured by Grassley in the fiscal 2008 appropriations bill.
“These funds will help provide higher level education opportunities to Oelwein students,” Grassley said. “It’s important to continue to increase interest in the areas of math, science and technology and help students become a part of a highly skilled workforce when they finish school.”
Oelwein Community School District will use funds for the Regional Academy for Math and Science to offer a higher and more rigorous curriculum for students in the areas of math, science and technology. The project will encourage students of all socioeconomic backgrounds to find success in science, technology, engineering and math activities and programs.
