WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $149,998 grant to Drake University, School of Education. The grant is funded by the Department of Education, Rehabilitation Long-Term Training – Rehabilitation Counseling Program.
Drake University will use the funds to provide a M.S. degree in Rehabilitation Counseling with a specialization in employer development to students who plan to work for the state-federal rehabilitation program.
The project will focus on integrating best practices in job development, job placement, and specifically employer development into research and curricula, as well as identify and recruit people from underrepresented populations who are willing to work in hard to fill positions around the state.
“These funds will help prepare Drake graduates to work with individuals with disabilities and their employers to develop solutions for any needs or concerns that may arise,” Grassley said.
