Grassley: $20,040 to Dubuque from U.S. Department of Justice

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs has released a $20,040 grant to Dubuque through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.

“These funds will help give law enforcement officers necessary equipment and funding to better serve and protect the residents in Dubuque against illegal drugs,” Grassley said.

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program allows states and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime and improve the criminal justice system.

Dubuque and Dubuque County’s Law Enforcement and Prevention Project will use the funds to help assist law enforcement with enforcement, intervention and prevention efforts and to purchase special equipment for the application of rapid responses to law enforcement needs. The project is a multi-law enforcement agency effort between the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office and the Dubuque Police Department to investigate activity related to illegal drug distribution.
