Grassley: $430,348 in Funding Released for Loras College

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Justice has released $430,348 to Loras College in Dubuque to help improve student literacy. Grassley helped secure these funds in the fiscal 2008 appropriations process.

“These funds will help Loras College partner with elementary schools in Dubuque as they reach out to students and teachers to improve literacy,” Grassley said.

Loras College will use the funds to build upon its success of improving literacy skills among elementary age students in Dubuque. The funds will provide a two-year series of literacy activities developed by Loras College and the Dubuque Community Schools, improve pedagogical skills among existing teachers that want to develop their levels of expertise in literacy education and student teachers preparing to enter the workforce.
