WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs has awarded a $76,020 grant to the Allamakee Community School District in Waukon.
“The funds will help keep students out of trouble and help those that are already in the juvenile justice system,” Grassley said.
The Allamakee Community School District will use the funds for the Allamakee Intervention Center which helps students in grades 7-12 that have been suspended from school or involved with the Juvenile Court System by providing a structured setting and academic support and supervision during periods of separation from the school in order to keep students from dropping out of school and to decrease the number of suspensions due to violent behavior.
