WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has released funds totaling $876,407 to Hawkeye Community College and St. Ambrose University for the construction of and equipment for health centers. The funds were awarded through the fiscal 2008 congressional appropriations process.
“These funds will help Hawkeye Community College and St. Ambrose University teach and provide quality health care,” Grassley said.
The funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will be distributed as shown below.
v Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo will receive $355,037 to help enhance the construction of the planned Wellness and Health Center which will offer a comprehensive program of prevention and wellness to create an environment supportive of healthy lifestyle choices. The funds will help expand classrooms and office space for new programming, offer clinical healthcare for the community particularly through the physical therapy room, and provide space for a student health center.
v St. Ambrose University in Davenport will receive $521,370 to help purchase equipment for the new Center for Health Sciences Education which will include a simulated inpatient hospital care laboratory, a home health laboratory, and surface EMG equipment.
